Want to get a electric slot car racing track set for my boys (ages 8 & 12) as a holiday gift. I see Carrera, AFX, etc. Which is the best (funnest)? I had one as a kid but don’t remember the brand. Any recommendation is appreciated. Thanks.

check out hobbypeople.net, they sell some good ones.

My kids love it & being a Peter Kay fan I do find Big Chris great.

I used to race 44's, but that's going to be too fast for younger children. For younger children, just use the rental cars. Group 12 is a pretty good all around class for children 12 and up.

I saw a commerical and it shows kids playing a racing car game and they would swipe cards and that would give them upgrades. thanks in advance. also i would like to know how the game is.
Actually the name of the Game is swype out but thanks for your answers

The game you're talking about is an arcade game called Initial:D. Its a racing game pretty similar to Tokyo Extreme Racer:Drift for consoles.

You purchase the card and it saves your progress, so whenever you race and gain upgrades for vehicles you buy during your game you can play were you left off.

The card in the arcade is usually $10.00 and $1.00 to play each round.

I like the game, but it can get a little expensive to get into. (especially when you can buy a console game thats really similar).

I suggest trying it out first in the arcade before buying a card, that way you dont waste any money if you end up not liking drift racing.
