I’ve seen in Bathurst in the time trials and races that when they come to a straight they swerve side to side constantly until they get to the turn… Why is this?
If it’s to keep traction or something can you explain how this works?
Cleans the excess rubber of the tires, you also may see them slow right down and then gas it up really quick, If you notice during the race all those black rubber marbles up top on the track, well when the tires are as hot as they get that rubber melts to them , if they dont get that off they will get crazy loose or spin the tires on the restart. They also awerve on the straightaways while racing to break draft.

For athletes they look to be in bad shape! Could Tony Stewart or Juan Pablo Montoya even fit into an Indycar or Formula 1 car anymore? or are they to fat?
I kind of agree with you. Even though they are older drivers they still do not compare to Michael Schumacher, Davey Hamilton or even Paul Tracy, all of which are up there in age. NASCAR used to brag about all the open wheel drivers jumping into the series. However, instead of a list of who’s who NASCAR is beginning to look like a retirement home for former open wheel drivers.
That is part of the reason, along with poor racing that has caused NASCAR’s rating to fall over the past three seasons. The only thing going in NASCARS favor is that there is no great alternative for racing fans to go to yet. The American Lemans series has been relegated to the die hards because the races are far to infrequent and the tv schedule is to hard to follow for the casual viewer. The Indycar series is improving the sponsors are beginning to return and Indy is drawing its largest crowds since the split began in 1996. However, it is still a spec series and that will not change until the new chassis and engines in 2012.
I am really into driving but I haven’t done any stockcar racing or anything of that sort, I just was wondering how a racecar driver starts his career of racecar driving.
Also, why is it that there are never any women drivers? or are there? Is there a rule about it or is it just that statistically women aren’t as interested in it?
That Danika Patrick is one heck of good-looking guy if you’re right and their aren’t any women drivers! LOL.

I was wonder if I could be a good race car driver?
.
I knew a queer ian who was not very successful…
.
any one know about professional race car drivers training school or any club in Sri lanka. please help me to learn more and become a good car racer in the world…….
The most recognized race driving schools are in The USA, Canada, Europe (UK mainly), Australia and New Zealand. The closest official schools to Sri Lanka are: Thunder Arabia in Bahrain (West of you), and Taki Racing in Thailand (East of you).
However there are some auto racing activities in Sri Lanka. I would suggest you contact the following organizations in your country:
1) Automobile Association of Ceylon www.aaceylon.lk
Contact them and ask their suggestions
2) www.mightymini.lk This association races Mini Coopers in Ceylon and they have many activities. Ask them if they offer training courses as well
3) Contact admin@speedlanka.com They can help you be in touch with the Slandar Championship and perhaps they have courses as well
If you are not successful with the above contacts, I suggest you move to the UK or USA where there are plenty of choices!!! lol
I had to check to make sure by watching a race, and I saw it confirmed. The drivers have a whole bunch of logos on their jumpsuits just like on the car. To me it doesn’t make sense because no one is going to see the logos on the driver because he is in the car the whole race, and I thought the whole point of those logos was for consumers to see them. People at home can’t see them for the reason I just stated. Fans at the race can’t see them because even when the racer is out of his car, they are too far away for the fan to see any logos beside the main sponsor logo on the back. All the different logos on the front are too small. The more I thought about it, the less sense it made for there to be so many logos on the actual jumpsuit of the driver.
Hi Robert!
The short answer to your question would be that these "logos" on drivers are seen by not only by the 90,000 to 160,000 at each event, but by the millions upon millions of fans who watch it on TV.
What keeps Nascar going is the awesome racing, great drivers, loyal fans, and of course………sponsorship.
You are contradicting yourself when you say "no one is going to see the logos on the driver because he is in the car the whole race". "I had to check to make sure by watching a race, and I saw it confirmed." Sponsors pay $$$millions to see their company logo on a firesuit, because it is a proven marketing tool…..and it works.
Watch a race in its entirety and you will notice more logos than you can keep track of, because Speed TV, FOX NBC etc will interview about 50-60 people before, during, and after a race…….owners, pit crew, drivers, and that’s not even counting the TV ads in between, with famous drivers, usually wearing their race gear, full of logos.
Some fans are so obsessed, they could name all sponsors on a driver’s uniform blindfolded…lol
All these companies want is exposure…………….hoping you buy their products in the near future. Almost 90% of published drivers’ photos (ie. magazines) show them in full uniform with all the logos. Yep, these guys are walking billboards.
Lets say your favorite driver wins the race, he will also drive home with a huge $$$ bonus from every sponsor you see on his uniform. For example Coca-Cola might give his team say, $25,000 or so for winning the race, not counting the winner’s purse.
Advertising pays……….however tiny the ad is, people will see it, plain and simple.
do the race car drivers get more money each time the advertisement gets seen on TV
The drivers get NO money from the advertisements on their cars and apparel. The team GETS the money. The driver gets the amount negotiated in their contract, no more and no less.
The money from advertising is PAID to the TEAM for the team to be able to continue to run in the competition.
Th amount of times the advertisements, either the car or the drivers in their apparel determines how much the advertiser is willing to pay. For instance, with the Renaults and Ferraris, and to a lesser extent the McLaren's have been up front for most of the race, and hopefully have got more tv coverage out of this, and will demand more money from their sponsors/advertisers due to this.
On the other hand, a Super Agurri is not challenging anywhere in the race and will probably only be on tv due to coverage of another car close by. (Overtaking, lapping, coming out of pits, accident, etc). These advertisers will not pay as much money for their sponsorship.
For instance, now that Button won in a Honda, Honda could ask a new sponsor/advertiser to pay more money then the advertiser would have last week or even last month.
Race car drivers all ride around the track. How many times? How do they earn points?

I spend a large amount of money each year on my race car during racing season. Can I deduct any of these expenses when filing my taxes?
If your income is from racing, then your claim your income on your Schedule C (1040 long form), and your expenses there too.
If racing is a hobby - then no, you can't deduct your expenses.
