Why do we here in the US still have NASCAR yet don’t promote real racing like this? It’s no wonder our auto industry is failing, with ford being the acception as the focus can be noted in this sport.

Haha, I was actually thinking of that movie as well as I wrote this comment, and Rally is an exception to what I was saying, but you get the point, spectator as in lazy spectating, not active. I mean, it’s way easier to show an oval on TV than a rally section. Real racing is a passion, and those of us who have that passion watch F1 because we know the kindof skill and feel that goes into that driving and can relate, and therefor are more involved.

I disagree with the …
I disagree with the spectator sport thing about rally, because spectators can actually get involved (when they help flip a car back over or get it out of a ditch,etc) or be victims. And it is an art form as well as a passion (Rally). Formula one and lemans, as well as off-road, are focused more on the driver and engineering..Ok Rally is as well.
The fascination with Nascar, Monster trucks, and drag racing over hear reminds me of that movie “Idiocracy”. They are status quo,mundane, and lobotomizd

Because this kind of racing is more of a driver’s sport than a spectator’s sport. I mean, look at youtube, how many videos are there of cars crashing vs actually legitly driving well? People in the US don’t have the passion for racing, so they don’t care to watch it. NASCAR is just popular because of it’s macho stereotype… big power, big crashes; nobody watches it for it’s value as a race series (compared to F1 and such, it has little value anyway; doesn’t need it)

Video Games don’t have tossles and and G-Forces and throttle sensitivity and flat tires and dented fenders and bad springs…
Video Games have a screen, that shows you what all that looks like, not what it feels like.
